Dear NHBB & USGO Students, Coaches, and Teams,

Thank you so much for coming to the 2017 Arkansas History Bee and Bowl! I’d like to thank Bruce Hall and Episcopal Collegiate School for hosting us, as well as all of our moderators and staff. The students (and I!) greatly appreciated your help and made Saturday a fantastic day of competition.

Congratulations to Episcopal Collegiate A and Ft. Smith Southside B for winning the Varsity and JV titles in the History Bowl, and to Steven Angtuaco of Episcopal Collegiate and Drew Roughly of Ft. Smith Southside for their victories in the Varsity and JV History Bees! Episcopal Collegiate went undefeated in preliminary play and defeated Brookland in the final 300-170, while Ft. Smith Southside B won the JV title on a tiebreaker over Episcopal Collegiate B. Great play from all!

Note that any Bowl team with a .500 record or above in the prelims qualifies for Nationals, as do Bee competitors who finished in the top half of their Bee prelims. These stats will be posted to our website shortly.

We hope that you and your students enjoyed the competition; if you have any feedback on how things went or questions about the day, please let us know!

Our 2017 National Championships will be held on April 21-23 in April in Arlington, VA and Washington, DC. Whether you were able to qualify this weekend, will qualify at a future tournament, or apply for a wildcard berth, I hope to see you there! Registration is open; we’ll be in touch with reminders as the school year progresses.

Thank you again for a great tournament!

Sincerely,
Marshall Mullins
