Dear Houston History Bee and Bowl Students, Coaches, and Teams,
Thanks for participating in the Dec. 4 tournament, and thanks to Wendell Zartman and our hosts at St. John’s High School for a great day! Thanks to everyone who helped out with reading and scorekeeping throughout the day; we greatly appreciate it.
Congratulations to St. John’s for their victory in the Varsity History Bowl, and to Gram Brinson of DeBakey for winning the Varsity History Bee!
I hope that you and your students enjoyed the competition; if you have any feedback on how things went or questions about the day, please just let me know. Please note that any team with a .500 record or above in the prelims or a playoff win qualifies for Nationals. The stats will also be posted to our website within the next few days.
All scores, including those for students who didn’t qualify automatically, for the US Geography Olympiad/International Geography Bee and the US History Bee on C Set are in the attached documents. Please share these with your students if they competed! Remember that if a student’s score doesn’t automatically qualify, they still might qualify by finishing above the official national median scores for their division. We’ll be in touch should that affect your students.
Nationals Registration for all events is now open here. The weekend in question is April 27-29 in Arlington, VA and Washington, DC. We hope to see many of you there, and as well at our next area events. Thanks again for coming, and good luck to your teams at their next tournaments!
Best regards from NHBB,
Marshall Mullins
