The National History Bee and Bowl will be holding the Houston History Bee and Bowl on Tuesday, April 11, 2017 at St. Johns School in Houston. This is an after school tournament that does not require prior qualification, will run on our C Set of questions this year, and is open to all teams and students, including those from out of state, as long as they have not played the question set. For further details, please contact the Tournament Coordinator, Marshall Mullins, at marshall@historybowl.com. Thanks, and we hope you and your team will be able to join us!

Note that the registration fee is still $75 per team for this event, but that includes the Bee for each player, and all students can do one exam free of charge as well (if they wish to do both, they still need to pay for the other).

Note: Because this tournament is taking place less than 2 weeks prior to our National Championships, students and teams who would be interested in competing at Nationals from the Houston area, are encouraged to apply for an outright bid to Nationals by sending an email to director@historybowl.com with a list of past accomplishments in history-themed competitions or quiz tournaments. Past results in the National History Bee and/or Bowl would be particularly helpful if available. Students and teams applying for such a bid to Nationals must still compete at Regionals, but they would not invalidate their ability to compete at Nationals, even if they do not qualify on the basis of their tournament results, provided that they have been granted a Nationals bid in advance. This does not, however, hold for the USGO/IGB and USHB exams – those must still be taken at a student’s school (or at the tournament) for students to qualify for Nationals in those events.

Note: During check in, we will administer the National Qualifying Exams for the US Geography Olympiad and the US History Bee. Students can take both exams and register for them either in advance or at the tournament itself; one exam is free per competing student; the second exam per student would cost $10.
