The National History Bee and Bowl is pleased to announce that its 3rd annual Lorenz Cup* History Bowl will be contested on Thursday, April 20 at the Crystal Gateway Marriott in Arlington, VA from 4:00pm-8:00pm on our A Set of questions. This tournament is open to any teams who have not played our A Set of questions, regardless of whether or not they are competing in other events at our National Championships from Friday-Sunday. It is particularly recommended for schools unable to compete on Saturday at Nationals or for students coming in early for Friday’s US History Bee. To facilitate sign ups, students may play in teams of 2 students for $50 where the two students attend different schools. Teams of 3 or more students are not permitted to have “free agents.”

If you are interested in playing as a “free agent” (i.e. you wish to find a teammate from another school), please email the Tournament Director and Coordinator, Marshall Mullins, at marshall@historybowl.com who will help match students as requested. Otherwise, teams are guaranteed 5 rounds of competition, and sign ups are done on the usual regionals registration form at www.historybowl.com/registration
If you are signing up as a team of 2 students from different schools, put the names of the two students in the registration form under the School Name field.

For further questions, please email Marshall. Good luck!

* = Jack Lorenz was the principal of Ridgewood High School in Ridgewood, NJ who assented to giving RHS’s support to the Tri-State History Bowl on May 22, 2010. This was the ur-tournament from which NHBB and all its derivatives developed. Without his support, none of this would have happened. Jack passed away several years ago, and we honor his memory by donating a portion of the entry fees from this competition to the American Cancer Society.
