GNSThe National History Bee and Bowl has concluded its tournaments for 2015 and is looking forward to dozens of events in the early months of 2016, leading to our 6th National Championships next April! We’ve had great turnouts throughout the country, highlighted by the 2015 Lower Hudson History Bee and Bowl at White Plains High School on Sat. Dec. 19 which featured 58 teams (including Varsity Finalists Great Neck South A with NHBB Executive Director David Madden in the photo here), and a record 106 students competing in the History Bee! That tournament also saw Eric Wolfsberg of Bethlehem Central captain his team to the Varsity Bowl title and tie a record with 41 points in the 3 preliminary rounds of the Bee. Other records set there included the youngest student ever to qualify for JV Bee Nationals (4th grader Jefferson McDonald of Tuxedo Park), and the highest USGO exam paper so far this year from Alexander Koutsoukos of Middlebrook Middle School with a 94!
We’ve also enjoyed our largest Michigan tournament ever, record turnouts for fall events in South Florida and Northern California, and have been busy scheduling dozens of tournaments for 2016. All will culminate on April 22-24 in Arlington, VA and Washington, DC at Nationals – registration is now open for all who have qualified! Thanks for your support throughout 2015, enjoy your holiday break, and we’ll see you soon in 2016 at a tournament near you!
