6 teams participated in the second Alaska History Bowl, the first featuring a field entirely composed of middle school teams. Last year’s overall semifinalists, Begich Middle School, returned as a solo player team to join newcomers Romig Middle School and the hosts, Lumen Christi, which entered four teams. After the preliminary round robin, the two Anchorage School District teams advanced to the Final. Romig was 5-0 through the preliminaries while Begich was 4-1, its only loss coming to Romig in the second round. In the final, Romig jumped out to a sizable first half lead, then aced their 60-second round to put the game, and the title, out of reach.
Many thanks to Denise Mespelli and Lumen Christi High School for hosting us this season, and we hope to see all of the qualified teams at the Middle School Bowl national championship on May 18 and 19 in Arlington, VA!
