Congratulations to North Quincy A and Lexington C, the Varsity and Junior Varsity winners respectively of the 2012 Boston Area Fall History Bowl! Our tournament, held on Saturday, December 8 at Pioneer Charter School of Science in Everett, MA featured 20 area teams (including a NHBB regional tournament record-tying 8 from North Quincy High School!). AMSA made their NHBB debut, while Pioneer Charter Hingham, Lexington, and Everett also brought multiple teams. In the Varsity Division, North Quincy A, led by Tim Bill, led throughout, and won their final match over a very impressive Hingham B team featuring both Bee winners, Cam Juric in the Varsity and Sam Quillen in the JV.
In the JV History Bowl, the 2 seed Lexington C scored a minor upset in the final over North Quincy H, who had defeated them earlier in the day in the prelims. Duncan McCallum a ninth-grader from Lexington led his teammates to the win, largely on the basis of a strong 60 second round showing in the final match.
We hope to see all teams who qualified at our National Championships in Arlington, VA and Washington, DC on April 27, and prior to that, we hope to see all teams at our two other area tournaments (the Massachusetts Championships on Jan. 26 at Everett and the New England Championships on March 9 at Lexington)! Thanks to Darren Cerullo and James Francis at Pioneer Charter for helping us host the tournament, and to New England Outreach Coodinator Janine Simard for her help throughout the day too. Thanks to all teams for coming, we hope you had a great time!
