10 teams came to Zachary High School for theĀ 2013 Louisiana State Championship History Bowl on March 2. In this field of ten were eight varsity teams and two JV. The JV teams were mixed in with the varsity field but played a separate final after the five preliminary rounds were completed.
In the junior varsity final, Archbishop Shaw B defeated Zachary C to win the division title and claim a bid to our national championships on April 27-28 in Arlington, VA and Washington, DC.
In the Varsity division, both teams from Madison Central High School dominated, going 5-0 in their preliminary rounds and winning their semifinals against national qualifiers Baton Rouge Magnet and Archbishop Shaw A. Parkview Baptist qualified for nationals as well, finishing fifth with a 3-2 record. In the final, Madison Central A defeated Madison Central B 190-110.
Many thanks to Ryan Southall and Zachary High School for hosting this tournament again, and also to Ryan McLaren of Tulane University for being the tournament director! We hope to see all the qualified teams in Arlington and Washington this April!
