The National History Bee and Bowl held its Lower Hudson Valley regional tournament at White Plains High School in White Plains, NY on Saturday, December 10, 2011. Congratulations to Team TriBeCa for a victory in their first NHBB tournament in the Varsity division! Ardsley, led by Ryan Rosenberg who defended his title in the Varsity Bee took second while Scarsdale and White Plains were the Varsity semifinalists. Congratulations also to Irvington B who won the JV title in a field of 8 JV teams.
Thanks to Les Roby and the White Plains High School National Honor Society for assisting with tournament hosting and logistics, and thanks to our directors, Will Mantell and Brian Smiley. We’d also like to thank all the teams who made this a well-attended tournament, and a particular thank you to Team TriBeCa, Kellenberg, Tuxedo Park, Byram Hills, Croton-Harmon, and Wilton who all were competing at a National History Bowl tournament for the first time (though Wilton did come to our pilot tournament, the Tri-State History Bowl, in May 2010)
Full results will probably take about a week to get online, as we finalize setting up our website to accommodate stats from multiple years. When available, stats can be found by clicking on “State Bowl Results” on the right side of the screen.
We hope that all 3-2 teams will join us for our National Championships in Washington, DC next April 27-29! Those who didn’t qualify still have a chance to at Yale (Feb. 11) or RPI (Mar. 3) on C set, or at Princeton on A set (Feb. 25).
Thanks for your support of NHBB and we hope you had a great time at the second annual Lower Hudson Regional History Bowl!
