Oklahoma

The National History Bee and Bowl ran the Oklahoma History Bee and Bowl at Edmond Memorial High School in Edmond, OK on Saturday, February 18, 2012. 9 teams competed for the right to qualify to our National tournament on April 28 in Washington, D.C. and earn the right to call themselves the History Bowl Champion of Oklahoma.

Santa Fe A ended the preliminary rounds undefeated while Edmond Memorial A were the high scorers. Because of the odd number of teams, byes were given and 2 wins were sufficient to qualify for Washington; 7 teams qualified at this tournament. Santa Fe B and Norman North won their quarterfinal matches to earn the right to play Santa Fe A and Edmond Memorial A in the semifinals. Edmond Memorial came back from 20 points down in the fourth quarter to beat Norman North 200-170 to earn a place in the final against Santa Fe A. Memorial’s quizbowl experience showed through a great tossup-bonus second quarter score of 100 to take control of the match, eventually winning the Oklahoma title 250-190.
