Western Pennsylvania

9 teams came together at South Side Area Elementary School on Saturday, January 19 for the 2013 Western Pennsylvania History Bowl, where Southern Fulton A emerged as champions after beating Homer-Center 270-160 in the final, completing an undefeated day at the tournament.

Homer-Center was a junior varsity team comprised of freshman, and took home the JV championship after winning their semifinal match against the host school’s A team by that same 270-160 scoreline. Lowellville, this time represented with a full team after winning the Northeast Ohio JV Bowl with a solo player, were the JV runner-up after losing their semifinal to Southern Fulton A 390-90. Southern Fulton A was the only team to beat Lowellville that day, handing them an opening preliminary round loss as well.

The other national qualifier from the tournament was South Side B, winning two games out of four played. Their qualifying win came in a ten-point game against Southern Fulton B after scoring thirty points to take the lead with two questions remaining.

We’d like to thank Sam McCoy and South Side Area Schools for hosting, and hope to see all of our qualifying teams in Arlington, VA and Washington, D. C. for our national championships this April 27 and 28!
