The National History Bee and Bowl was pleased to visit Chaminade Madonna High School in Hollywood, FL on Saturday, February 18, 2012 for our Florida State Championship Bee and Bowl. Special thanks go out to Barry Briganti and his students for their exceptional hospitality for all the attending students and teams.
In the 14-team Varsity field, 4 undefeated teams (Ransom Everglades A, Chaminade-Madonna B, Coral Springs A, and Archimedean A) quickly qualified (or re-qualified) for Nationals by the lunch break. 3 or the lower 4 seeds clinched their playoff places prior to Round 5; only South Fork A waited until Round 5 to seal their place. For the second straight year, a final was played between a Ransom Everglades team and a Chaminade-Madonna team, and Ransom emerged as the Florida State Varsity Champion.
In the JV field, Ransom Everglades’ JV A team ran the table with five preliminary wins, including in the last round over South Fork’s JV A team. Those two immediately had a rematch in the JV final and ended with the same result.
