Congratulations to High Tech A (Varsity) and Ridgewood B (Junior Varsity) for winning the 2012 Southern New Jersey Fall History Bowl! Thanks to Kathy D’Andrea and Monsignor Donovan High School for hosting our tournament on Saturday, November 17. In the Varsity Division, we had a number of exciting games. St. Joe’s A finished the prelims 5-0, while Ranney B, High Tech A, Bergen Academies, and Ridgewood A all put up strong 4-1 records. In the playoff semifinals, third-seeded High Tech A—having added star player Pat LeBlanc after lunch—upset second-seeded Ranney B, while top-seeded St. Joe’s A handily beat Bergen. In the finals, High Tech A took a commanding lead in the second quarter and never looked back, defeating St. Joe’s A 320-230.
In the JV Division, Ridgewood B dominated the day, going 3-0 in the JV prelims while defeating one varsity team and giving St. Joe’s A one of its toughest matches of the tournament. Monsignor Donovan D went 2-1 in the JV prelims and faced Ridgewood B in the JV finals. Ridgewood B prevailed by a score of 390-140. Congratulations to all teams who made the playoffs and who qualified for our National Championships next April 27-28 in Washington, DC and Arlington, VA. We will be getting in touch with everyone who qualified in the coming weeks with more information on Nationals. Registration will likely open in late November or early December and will run through early April 2013. We hope to see all teams who qualified there!
