Congratulations to Cave Spring High School’s A Team, who went undefeated in winning the first NHBB tournament of the year, the inaugural Southwest Virginia History Bowl! Thanks to Blacksburg High School and coach Matt Beeken for hosting, and to social studies teacher Brad Kraft for helping out with reading questions. Cave Spring A won all of their prelim matches by a wide margin, but in the final, Blacksburg A kept it very close. Cave Spring held on, though, through a strong 3rd quarter, and prevailed with a 250-230 win. Blacksburg A and Cave Spring B also qualified for Nationals through virtue of having winning records in the prelims. During the lunch break, 8 students gave the US Geography Challenge Regional Qualifying Exam a shot at lunch, becoming the first students ever to participate in our new partner competition. We hope all teams had a great day and hope to see those who qualified at our National Championships in April!
