(Montreal – July 7, 2014) Happy summer from The National History Bee and Bowl! While this is our traditional “off-season”, everyone at NHBB is still hard at work preparing for next year’s competitions. We expect to have an update on the International History Olympiad, which will debut in July 2015, available by the end of the month – check www.ihbbglobal.com for the latest.
In other news, NHBB is pleased to welcome Bunnie Hadsall as a full-time staff member. Based out of Arizona, Bunnie brings years of experience in quiz bowl and academic competition to NHBB. She will focus on a number of projects in 2014-15, including helping to coordinate our regional tournaments, overseeing our expansion to Canada, and assisting with our middle school History Bowl tournaments. Also, Matt Weiner, perhaps the top writer for history quizbowl questions in the country, will now be in charge of question production for our tournaments. Other NHBB staff members will assist with writing and editing at times. Lastly, if you’re interested, Eric Xu, the 3rd place winner in the Varsity National History Bee last April and the 2014 National Quizbowl Player of the Year interviewed NHBB Executive Director, David Madden. If you’re interested in hearing about NHBB’s own history and more on our plans for the future, you can listen to the full podcast of the interview here.
We’ll be updating the website with the first scheduled tournaments for 2014-15 by the end of July, and we expect to have a new version of the website ready to launch by the end of September. We hope that you and your team are likewise using the off-season to prepare for another exciting new year of The National History Bee and Bowl. Enjoy your summer, and we’ll see you in the fall!
