Hunter College HS swept the Bee and Bowl titles in both the Varsity & JV Divisions at the 2019 NHBB NJ State Championships

The National History Bee and Bowl’s high season for regional and state tournaments is here! Over 70 tournaments are planned between now and early April at the Varsity and Junior Varsity level, and a few more will still be scheduled. January has already seen hundreds of teams compete. Despite an impending snowstorm which thankfully held off until 3 hours after the tournament finished, 80 teams and over 100 Bee players turned out for our largest Varsity and JV tournament prior to Nationals, the 2019 New Jersey History Bee and Bowl State Championships on January 19. Hunter College High School took all four Varsity and JV titles, led by captain Daniel Ma. However, the Bee final came down to the last question as Walker Combs of George Washington High School (who had come from West Virginia) and Dean Ah Now of Millburn High School were also right in the thick of things. All three players look to contend for National titles this April 26-28 in Arlington.
Details for Nationals are posted here and the registration runs through the forms linked here through April 6 for the History Bowl and April 13 for all individual events. We’re also going to be busy running 40+ Middle and Elementary School National History Bee and National Science Bee Regional Finals tournaments around the country over the next few months! While registration formally closes on Friday, January 25 for the Middle and Elementary School National History Bee and National Science Bee, email info@iacompetitions.com through mid-February; space may still be available in certain regions.
Best of luck in qualifying for Nationals, and we hope to see you at a tournament soon!
