The National History Bee and Bowl is pleased to announce that its 2019 Massachusetts History Bee and Bowl State Championships will be held at Noble and Greenough School in Dedham, MA on Saturday, February 2. This tournament will run on our B Set of questions, and like all NHBB Varsity and Junior Varsity events, is open to all students, regardless of what state they are from, as long as they have not yet played this set of questions in the 2018-2019 academic year. To register, please visit this link. For further information, please email the Tournament Coordinator at the address listed below. Thanks, and we look forward to welcoming you and your team to Dedham in February!

Note 1: During the lunch break, we will offer the National Qualifying Exams for the US Geography Olympiad / International Geography Bee (one exam serves to qualify students for the National Championships of both competitions) and the US History Bee. Both exams cost $10 and can be signed up for on the day of the tournament; pre-registration is not required.

Note 2: The schedule as listed below is considered tentative until registration opens, and thereafter, may still be subject to slight changes based on turnout until registration closes, at which point it will be confirmed. Students and teams looking for further guidance on the schedule should contact the Tournament Coordinator.

Thank you to the 15 teams who attended, to Ms. Nahyon Lee for coordinating the hosting arrangements, and to Mr. Will Schneider for directing the tournament.  Additional thanks goes to the individuals who read and kept score for matches throughout the day.  We hope that all teams will be able to attend our New England Championships at ConVal High School on March 31, 2018, which will use our A set.  We look forward to welcoming all qualified teams to our national championships in Arlington, VA on April 27-29 and all qualified students (all students on winning bowl teams or who were in the top 25% of their division, either after preliminaries or after playoffs, in the bee) to the International History Olympiad in Berlin, Germany on July 14-22.  Thanks again for attending and continuing to support our tournaments!

Our Massachusetts State Championship tournament this year was sponsored by the Massachusetts Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War. NHBB gratefully appreciates their support of our tournament!
