The National History Bee and Bowl is pleased to announce that its 2019 New York City History Bee and Bowl will be held at BASIS Independent Brooklyn in Brooklyn, New York on Sunday, February 24. This tournament will run on our A Set of questions, and like all NHBB Varsity and Junior Varsity events, is open to all students, regardless of what state they are from, as long as they have not yet played this set of questions in the 2018-2019 academic year. To register, please visit this link. For further information, please email the Tournament Coordinator at the address listed below. Thanks, and we look forward to welcoming you and your team to Brooklyn in February!

This tournament will also feature a Middle School Division in the History Bowl, if at least 4 Middle School teams register. During the Bee portion of the day, middle school students can decide to either compete in the JV Division of the National History Bee or compete in the Middle School International Geography Bee Regional Quiz Tournament (which functions like a History Bee, but with Geography-themed questions). The Geography Quiz Tournament is only open to students in 8th grade and younger; students in grade 6 and younger will play in a separate Elementary Division.

Note 1: During the lunch break, we will offer the National Qualifying Exams for the US Geography Olympiad / International Geography Bee (one exam serves to qualify students for the National Championships of both competitions) and the US History Bee. Both exams cost $10 and can be signed up for on the day of the tournament; pre-registration is not required. Students planning on taking one exam are recommended not to leave during the lunch break (they can bring a lunch or have a teammate get lunch for them). Students planning on taking both exams should definitely plan on staying at the school for lunch.

Note 2: The schedule as listed below is considered tentative until registration opens, and thereafter, may still be subject to slight changes based on turnout until registration closes, at which point it will be confirmed. Students and teams looking for further guidance on the schedule should contact the Tournament Coordinator.

The National History Bee and Bowl held its 2018 New York City History Bee and Bowl at Yeshiva University High School for Girls on Sunday, March 4. Congratulations to our champions!
