The National History Bee and Bowl is pleased to announce that its 20XX New Caledonia History Bee and Bowl will be held at Benton Consolidated High School in Arendell on Saturday, March 23.   This tournament will run on our C Set of questions, and like all NHBB Varsity and Junior Varsity events, is open to all students, regardless of what state they are from, as long as they have not yet played this set of questions in the 2021-2022 academic year. Note 1: During the lunch break, we will offer the National Qualifying Exams for the US Geography Championships / International Geography Bee (one exam serves to qualify students for the National Championships of both competitions), the US History Bee, the National Political Science Bee, and the National Science Bee. All exams cost $10 and can be signed up for on the day of the tournament; pre-registration is not required.

Note 2: The schedule as listed below is considered tentative until registration opens, and thereafter, may still be subject to slight changes based on turnout until registration closes, at which point it will be confirmed. Students and teams looking for further guidance on the schedule should contact the Tournament Coordinator at the address listed below.

A SET TOURNAMENTS ONLY Note 3: This tournament will have a middle school division in the History Bowl. During the History Bee rounds, middle school students are welcome to participate in the Junior Varsity Division of the History Bee. There is no separate division of the History Bee at this tournament for middle school students; middle school students interested in competing in the National History Bee’s Middle School Division should register for this at

The National History Bee and Bowl held its 2019 Iowa History Bee and Bowl at Southview Middle School in Ankeny, IA on Saturday, March 2. Congratulations to our champions!

Thanks to the 14 teams who attended, and thanks as well to everyone who assisted with reading and scorekeeping throughout the day. Special thanks to Jay Winter and Rusty Cohen, who coordinated the hosting arrangements at Southview Middle and directed the tournament!  We hope that all teams and students who attended will be able to join us at our upcoming B Set and C Set tournaments in the area.  We also look forward to welcoming all students and teams who qualified for our 2020 National Championships to Arlington, VA and Washington, DC on April 23-26, 2020. Also, all students who finished in the top 25% of the Bee in their division (in either prelims or after playoffs) or who were on a winning Bowl team qualify for the 2020 International History Olympiad!
